Why I am running for the Title of Ms Gay Vancouver

The title of Ms. Gay Vancouver is a representative of the Rhinestone Phoenix Charity Foundation, which is "Heraldic Society' that exist to raise funds for a variety of charitable organizations. I have chosen to run for Ms Gay for several reasons; to contribute to the gay /drag queen community, leave my own impression, and to have fun.

My foray into the drag world is very recent as I have just started doing shows about 2 years ago. Without getting into a lot of navel gazing, about how I got here I will just summarize by saying what a thrilling ride it has been so far. This is the main reason I want to contribute by becoming Ms. Gay and using the title to connect with the broader community beyond the gay/drag queen one.

The second main reason i want to run is like most drag queens I have an insatiable ego and want to leave my own impression as Ms Gay Vancouver. After reading through a brief history of the Foundation, I felt a bit intimidated and excited at the same time. Intimidated by all the other impressive representatives that have already held this title and wondering how I can live up to these high standards and qualities of former title holders. Excited because I see an opportunity to leave my own mark as the 'Phoenix" is the symbol of rebirth, and change.

Finally who doesn't want to have fun while doing something altruistic. I would love to host shows in town for charitable organizations and travel to other cities as Ms. Gay. I am already interviewing for positions in my entourage and spiritual adviser and fluffer are still open in anyone wants to apply.

I do hope I am lucky enough to be selected to hold the title of Ms. Gay and leave my own mark as I am up for it.
